How did serving in the military help prepare you for a job in the clean energy industry?

Serving in the military taught me operational discipline, safety adherence, and quick decision-making—skills essential in the clean energy industry.

During my military career, I managed complex operations, similar to planning and risk management in energy projects. I also developed strategic communication skills, vital for leading teams and promoting a culture of safety and responsibility. These roles strengthened my resilience and adaptability, which are key to success in renewable energy.

What advice do you have for veterans exploring a job in the clean power industry?

For veterans interested in clean power, go for it—your military skills fit well here. I found my safety focus, teamwork, and discipline were highly valued. . Learning industry certifications and standards helped me transition, and networking with others in the field was key. Your mission-driven mindset and resilience are strengths the industry needs.

What advice do you have for companies looking to hire veterans?

Veterans are often overlooked because employers may not fully understand how military skills transition to civilian roles. My advice is to look beyond job titles and focus on the qualities veterans bring: discipline, adaptability, a strong safety mindset, and experience in high-stakes environments. Veterans are mission-focused team players, skilled in problem solving and quick decision making under pressure. Provide clear training paths and mentorship: with a little guidance. Veterans can become some of your most dedicated and effective employees. Recognizing their potential not only benefits your team but also brings valuable perspectives to your organization.
